About me?
I’m an actor, clarity coach, and podcast host currently based in Chicago.
As an actor, you might have seen me as Paramedic Courtney on Chicago Med, the Hot Shot mom, or heard me on various national commercials.
Beyond my work in TV and voice over, I offer custom coaching to get you unstuck and design the life you want! One client described it as therapy without the therapy... more like a great chat with a best friend reminding you who you are and what you dreamed of as a kid!
I believe actors can be happy and fulfilled before they succeed...in fact, they almost have to be. From side job life to series regular, from costar, guest star, or the lead in the musical...I think every actor in Chicago and the world deserves a whole life. Acting is unlikely to fill your cup 100% of the time, so let's fill it together.
My friends used to come to me for advice, calling me their coach. I heard, “You should be a life coach,” so many times that it almost felt wrong not to be one. The only problem was, I didn’t know how to make that transition.
I actually sought out a life coach for insecurities I was experiencing in my own acting career. I had been told I wasn’t pretty enough to audition for a specific TV show, and this was the straw that broke the sensitive girl’s back. I didn’t feel talented enough, pretty enough, or skinny enough.
First, she helped me navigate those “pesky” lies I kept telling about my own inadequacy. Then, she mentored me on my other dream – to become a coach like her. Now, I get to help others overcome their limiting beliefs.
I’ve taught and coached at SAG-AFTRA, Actors’ Equity, The Green Room Chicago, Vagabond School of the Arts, The Acting Studio Chicago, The Chicago Acting in Film Meetup Group, Leo Burnett, Lapiz, Artistic Strategies, Creative Social Media, and d'aprile properties. I can be heard on Leigh Foster’s podcast, Action: The Art of Acting Excellence.
Hear me interview others in the industry at The Whole Artist with Courtney Rioux anywhere you listen to podcasts. I bring you conversations, coaching, and personal stories of hope, resilience, and success in life (and the acting career).
As a writer, I’ve been published on Backstage.com and Playback magazine (SAG-AFTRA Chicago).
And I volunteer as a National and Chicago Local Board Member with SAG-AFTRA.
Now that I’m a mom, I spend most of my free time with my little guy and my husband! I love to read, travel, and work out, but somehow those are happening less frequently than before.
So many people are waiting to achieve something “out there” before they can be happy. Choose happiness now, and you’ll be more creative and successful because of it.
Oh… and in case you’re wondering? Rioux is pronounced Roo. 😉
